Match Update

2017 MATCH UPDATES:

August 30, 2017:

The 2017 Nordic Components Tactical Shotgun Championship has been cancelled. We did not have enough shooters to justify putting on this match. And with the lack of volunteers to help put this match on, we wouldn’t have been able to put on a good quality match that the we and the shooters wanted. Putting on a lesser match would have been a disservice to the registered shooters.

I want to thank Ron Westberg and the Forest Lake Sportsmen’s Club for working with us to try to make this event happen. I also want to thank the few people who stepped up to help to work to try to make this event happen. We just didn’t have enough and it would have been too much work for the very few.

A big thank you also to Nordic Components, JP Enterpises, TACCOM, Hiperfire, Vortex Optics, ORM Tech Ammo, Luth AR, and A&S Engineering. Our plan was to make this match a trophy only match with a limited prize table as all the companies are stretched thin with requests from so many matches. So we asked only our long-time supporters to consider sponsoring this match only if they could. These sponsors came through and the prize table grew to an amazing $15,500 worth of products. They took care of us, but putting on a match with too small of attendance would be a disservice to them. Please thank them for their strong support of the match and our shooting sports.

All paid registration match fees will be refunded shortly and you will receive a notification by email. Please allow the refund a few days to get credited back to you. To the match sponsors, again thank you for your support and we will make sure all products already received gets promptly returned.

August 24, 2017:

Alright shooters, we are 5 weeks out from this match. So many of you wanted us to bring this match back and said you would shoot it even though it would just be a trophy match with a limited prize table. We’ve done what we can, and have gotten a few sponsors on board. But currently, we do not have enough registered shooters to justify the costs of putting on this match.

We have thought about how to proceed from here, and at this point, we have decided to give this match just one more week of open registration before determining if we will have it or cancel it. At the end of the day on August 30th, it will be determined and announced. If the match is cancelled, all match fees will be refunded.

We are also in need of more match staff who would be willing to assist with set-up and being embedded RO’s in squads. The match staff will have their match fees waived. If you want to be in the match staff, Contact Jomar at Jomar.MN3GG@gmail.com.

July 17, 2017:

The Nordic Components Tactical Shotgun Championship started back in 2011 and filled the absence of a major match in Minnesota when the legendary DMPS Tri-Gun Challenge suddenly ended.  As any new match, it started small but was very successful.  In 2012, the MN 3Gun Group took the helms of the match and its reputation gained momentum to be known as the premier shotgun event.  In 2014, the match moved to a new home at the Forest Lake Sportsmen’s Club.  In that year and in 2015, the match filled within minutes of the registrations opening up.

The grounds development at the Forest Lake Sportsmen’s Club made it possible for a return of a major 3-gun event in Minnesota.  With Vortex Optics joining Nordic Components as the title sponsors, the shotgun match evolved into the Nordic Vortex Tri-Gun in 2016 and was instantly a hit among the shooters and selling out within minutes of the registrations opening both in 2016 and this year.  But shooters also yearned for the return of the shotgun-only match.

With approval and support from Nordic Components, the MN 3Gun Group is bringing back the Nordic Components Tactical Shotgun Championship.  But with the industry being asked by so many matches nationwide for sponsorship, this match will start out as a trophy only match with a limited prize table.

The 2017 match will take place at the Forest Lake Sportsmen’s Club on September 30th – October 1st (Saturday – Sunday) and will feature 12 challenging and exciting stages.  The current plan is for the day and a half shooting format with the awards ceremony to follow after, but may change depending on the amount of registered shooters.

The match fee is $100 (includes a non-refundable $3.20 on-line payment processing fee).  Registration is now open through Practiscore.  After registering, you will receive a match confirmation email with links to your own personal match management page.  Self-squadding will open at a later date to be announced.

Match information and rules are on the match website.  Follow the match updates on Facebook.

We are excited for this match and we know you will be too.  We look forward to seeing you at the match.
